Hi! I’m Tasha.

Founder and CEO of the Healthy LifeStyle Collective! I’m a former professional dancer and certified fitness professional with nearly 20 years of experience. My passion for health and fitness began at a young age when I started dancing at six years old. I studied ballet, modern, tap, and jazz, and started dancing professionally at 14.

During my career as a professional dancer, I performed with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, the Kennedy Center, and Nickelodeon’s Backyardigans.

After graduating from Fordham University, I became a certified personal trainer while continuing my career as a professional dancer. As I transitioned into a full-time personal trainer and fitness manager, I applied all the things I learned as a dancer to train my clients to be their best selves. Being a dancer taught me so much about wellness, including how to have a healthy relationship with food, body conditioning, posture, and more.

As your personal wellness coach, I am here to give you a personalized wellness plan that fits your lifestyle. I don’t believe that you should deprive yourself of things you enjoy, such as pizza and wine. I believe that wellness is about creating habits that allow you to be healthy physically and mentally while enjoying your life. I train you on how to incorporate fitness and wellness as you navigate through life changes in your career, love life, family, and more. Let’s work together to shape your body and mind to be your best self.

Vision

The HLS Collective is a community of practice that celebrates the wholeness of women. Our vision is to be a standard of excellence, providing mentorship and support to a tribe of women who gather together to prioritize wellness, have fun, and become well-rounded individuals who inspire the next generation.

We believe in being trailblazers and in creating a gathering place for physical fitness and mental toughness. We know that being healthy on the inside is just as important as being healthy on the outside. That's why we've created a repeatable program that can be passed on, so that the success and empowerment we've achieved can be duplicated by others.

We believe in fostering a network of women who are successful in their own right, while also having a good time and enjoying life. Our community is a place where women can come together to uplift and support one another, and where our collective energy creates a powerful force for positive change.

Mission

At HLS Collective, our mission is to provide a safe and welcoming space for women to heal, grow, and thrive. We believe that fitness and wellness are integral to a holistic approach to health, and we are committed to helping women learn how to incorporate these practices into their daily lives.

Our vision is to be a standard of excellence in providing mentorship and support to a tribe of women who prioritize their wellness and inspire the next generation. We know that creating a gathering place for physical fitness and mental toughness is crucial for the success of our community, and we strive to be a repeatable program that can be passed on for generations to come.

We recognize that healing is a necessary component of wellness, and we are dedicated to creating a safe space where women can find support, guidance, and empowerment. We believe that by fostering a network of strong and healthy women, we can make a positive impact in our communities and beyond.

Meet The Team

  • MONICA

    CHIEF OF COMMUNITY

Hey Ya’ll! I’m Mon. I’m an NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Precision Nutrition Coach as well as an Under Armour Athlete and Amateur Boxer.

The DMV is my home and I love that I’ve created a career that involves moving, interacting with amazing women, programming fun workouts, and creating wellness content via social media!

I discovered movement through high school sports (soccer, indoor track, and lacrosse) and worked to stay active through my early twenties by exploring distance running and yoga. Even as I became a personal trainer I struggled with challenges like injury, body dysmorphia, and disordered eating. These struggles pushed me to dig deeper and educate myself on proper coping and prevention so that I could be a better resource to my clients.

Sharing this passion with my clients helped me rise from each challenge feeling more and more empowered. I love to help women unlock their potential in all things wellness!

I believe we are all different and we deserve to approach our health in a way that makes us truly happy. Fitness is not one size fits all, so I’m excited to guide you on an enjoyable journey designed specifically for your goals!

  • NATIYA

    WELLNESS EXPERT & CERTIFIED TRAINER

Hi, I’m Natiya Tapper-Curtis, an NASM certified personal trainer and health enthusiast. I am Spelman College graduate, Howard Law-trained attorney, and member of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority Incorporated. My most cherished role is that of mom to two beautiful girls.

I have always lived a relatively healthy lifestyle. However, my desire to become a fitness professional was inspired by my mentor and friend Tasha. After trying to work out on my own, and with various online fitness trainers, I was frustrated by my lack of progress. After just a few weeks of working with Tasha, I saw real results, I was having fun, and I felt great. That first training session was four years ago, and I am still fully committed to a healthy lifestyle, thanks to Tasha.

My goal as a fitness professional is to help you embrace your authentic self through fitness and adopt a healthy lifestyle. As a mother, I also understand the changes caused by pregnancy and hormonal fluctuations. Accordingly, I have a special focus on the postnatal body. Whatever your fitness goals may be, my goal is to help you create the aesthetic you desire, and reach your personal fitness through a personalized training program.

  • DANEAL

    DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

I'm Daneal, a dedicated health and fitness expert with a deep passion for helping older adults live their best lives. With over 15 years of experience in the industry, I have had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages. However, it is my unwavering commitment to the well-being of older adults that truly fuels my drive and purpose.

My fitness journey began during my time at NCAT, where I immersed myself in the study of Exercise Physiology. The knowledge and skills I gained during my studies laid a solid foundation for my career. After graduating, I entered the gym industry and had the incredible fortune of being mentored by Tasha Cooper, the CEO of HLS. Under her guidance, I quickly ascended through the ranks, eventually taking on the role of fitness management and overseeing my own fitness department.

In 2016, an exciting opportunity led me to the vibrant fitness scene of San Francisco, CA. There, I had the privilege of collaborating with some of the top trainers at Equinox. This experience was nothing short of transformative, as I witnessed firsthand how the West Coast approach to fitness was both fun and enlightening. Motivated by this growth, I made the decision to return to the DMV area, where I took on the role of assisting the Director of Fitness at Golds Gym. In this position, I was able to share my expertise and train and educate new trainers in the local area.

With the arrival of the pandemic, new doors opened, prompting me to launch my own business in health and wellness: Solid4 Fitness LLC. Focused primarily on working with older adults, my company is dedicated to helping this demographic achieve their health and fitness goals, providing them with the support and guidance they need to thrive.

In January 2023, I embarked on an exciting new chapter as the Director of Education at HLS. This opportunity allowed me to collaborate once again with Tasha Cooper, and together, we are poised to make a positive impact on the health and wellness of individuals seeking to improve their lives. With my friendly and approachable demeanor, I strive to create a supportive and motivating environment for my clients as they embark on their fitness journey.

I am thrilled to join forces with Tasha and offer our combined knowledge and expertise to help you achieve your health goals. Together, we are equipped and ready to guide you every step of the way. Get ready to embark on a transformative fitness journey with us. I can't wait to meet you and witness your incredible progress. See you soon!
